Dengue cases in state reaches 2,500 patients; house-to-house cleaning campaign starts

As the monsoon rains hit West Bengal, the dengue infection has emerged as a significant health concern, already claiming the lives of six individuals in the state. A 10-year-old girl's recent death, initially reported as the first case this season, turned out to be the sixth dengue-related fatality. State health authorities are closely monitoring the situation and urging greater public awareness.

Health department sources revealed that, prior to the 10-year-old girl's death on July 22, three other fatalities occurred on July 21, all attributed to dengue. The total number of confirmed dengue cases in the state has reached approximately 2,500 patients, raising alarm among health officials.

In response to the increasing outbreak, the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation has launched a proactive house-to-house cleaning and spraying campaign. Led by Councilor Meenu Das Chakraborty, the campaign aims to prevent the flourishing of dengue larvae in residential areas. Garbage cleanup, mosquito oil and bleach spraying, and awareness initiatives have been initiated to safeguard residents from the deadly infection.

Councilor has emphasized the importance of community vigilance, urging residents in Ward No. 37, especially those residing in Purvanchal Awas, to maintain cleanliness and promptly report any signs of the disease. The operation revealed instances of stagnant water, which could be potential breeding grounds for mosquitoes carrying the dengue virus, reinforcing the need for continuous efforts in curbing the outbreak.

As dengue continues to pose a threat, health authorities and local communities in West Bengal are working together to combat the spread of the infection and protect the well-being of the population.
